As the new year gets fully into the swing of things after holidays a lot of people will find themselves back at a desk or performing the same repetitive tasks. This is the time when those niggling aches & pains may start to pop up again.

Some of these aches and pains may be familiar & some may be new, a lot of the time presenting as headaches, a sore neck or back or tight shoulders.

With this in mind, here are some helpful suggestions or tips which may help alleviate some of these issues:

  1. Next posture is the best posture:
If you find yourself sitting or standing in the same position for more than 30min it may be time to stand up and move around. Staying mobile can decrease those chances of tightening up.
  2. Setting reminders:
Often you can get engrossed in whatever task you are doing within your job role and forget to move. Setting a timer on your phone or putting a sticky note on your computer can set a good reminder to stay mobile.
  3. Movements:
It is a good idea to be comfortable with a set of movements that you can perform when feeling tight. Things that you know can help ease pain and be performed throughout the day.
  4. Workspace layout:
Not everyone will be able to stand up and walk around every 30min, so have a look at how your workspace is set up. Can a desk height or computer height be adjusted to make things more ergonomic? If not, there are certain tools and equipment which can help.
  5. Don’t settle with pain:
Lastly, and importantly, don’t settle with having pain in your life. If you are finding that those niggling pains aren’t going away make sure you book in with a health specialist so that you can continue to living life to the fullest.

We hope these tips help you!
